Joining the Apprenticeship Training Program at the OPCMIA 692 JATC means you'll learn skills that pay well and are always in demand. It's more than a job - it's a career choice that makes successful, rewarding lives nationwide.
GET PAID TO LEARN
You'll complete 432 hours over three (3) years of industry related training. These classes explore the uses and applications, of the Plasterer and Cement Mason trade as well as labor history and estimating.
In addition, you will complete 5,600 hours of on-the-job training, refining and demonstrating your hands-on skills with a qualified journeyperson. You will benefit from being trained by experienced journeypersons, who' have started where you are and want to help you succeed top the highest level of expertise.
You start at 60% of a journeyperson's wage rate with benefits. There are six periods of training over the three (3) year program. At each new stage, your wage rate increases by at least 5% until you reach journeyman status.

The Plasterer and Cement Mason trade, like all construction trades, operates as a series of short-term jobs. With completion of each job you will be able to step back and take pride in what you've built. The variety of jobs and the challenge each one brings there is no way you will ever be bored!
• You must be at least 18 years of age. There is no maximum age.
• You must provide proof of age.
• You must have High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• You must be able to read and write in English.
• You must be in good health and physically able to perform the work of the trade.

Our Apprenticeship Program is sponsored by collective bargaining agreements with employer associations and the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association.
Our courses are taught according to today's building and construction standards. All apprentices are required to complete on-the-job and classroom training.
